José Capaz
José Gabriel Capaz (Havana, Cuba 1988) is a Cuban artist who specialized in painting. Graduated from the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts (2010), he attended the Higher Institute of Art of Havana (ISA) between 2011 and 2015. José was one of the three founding members of the Havana based collective known as STAINLESS (2010-2017). In 2017, José continued a solo career in Havana, Cuba, where he lives and works.
José has participated in major public projects during the 2012 and 2015 Havana Biennials and has exhibited in Freize Museum (Berlin) and Casa de México Museum (Havana). José has received Scholarships from The Shelley and Donald Rubin Foundation, New York (2014) and The Rockefeller Brothers Fund in collaboration with Pioneer Works, New York (2017).
Jose´s work is in private collections around the world. It has been publicly collected by The Shelley and Donald Rubin Foundation Collection NY, USA, The Gilbert Brownstone Foundation Collection, Paris, France, The Chrysler Museum Collection, Virginia, USA and The Virginia Museum Collection, Virginia, USA.
