Sona Lee

Dreamlike imagery and psychological space lie at the center of Sona Lee’s artistic practice. Through painting and drawing, she reconstructs surreal environments where fragments of dreams, memories, and reality intertwine, forming layered visual narratives that invite viewers to navigate between the familiar and the unknown.

Lee’s works explore the subtle boundary between the real and the unreal. Her compositions weave together multiple visual layers, creating spaces that feel both intimate and disorienting. Within these shifting environments, imagery becomes a reflection of inner perception, revealing emotional and psychological dimensions beneath the surface of everyday experience. Originally from Korea and now based in New York City, Lee’s practice reflects a dialogue between memory, imagination, and lived experience.

Through her carefully constructed scenes, viewers are encouraged to slow down, linger within the image, and discover the complex relationships between dream, memory, and reality.
