Sona Lee

Aissulu’s painting practice investigates the boundaries of perception and the animate nature of presence. Rooted in the animistic traditions of the Kazakh steppe and informed by classical Moscow training, she view the world as a sentient field of relationships rather than fixed objects. Her work seeks to capture the "pre-categorical" gaze.

This is the raw encounter between body and world before the intellect assigns a name. From celestial forces to hand-extracted organic pigments, my canvases serve as a threshold where matter and mind converge, recording the slow sedimentation of time and the fundamental beauty of living systems.
