Hsin-Yi Liu
Hsin-Yi Liu was born in Taiwan and currently lives and works in New York. Working primarily with ceramics and oil paint, she creates a distinctive visual universe inhabited byambiguousfigures with animal-like qualities and subtly fragmented human forms. Her works evoke emotionally layered spaces where warmth, curiosity, and a quiet sense of unease coexist, inviting viewers into moments where imagination and everyday experience intersect.
Her practice has gradually shifted toward a more intuitive and open process, shaped in part by her experience of motherhood, allowing forms and characters to emerge through play and instinct. In recent years, she has described the world within her work as “Floatia,” a poetic universe of floating presences and shifting identities where figures function as vessels for emotion, memory, and possibility.
